Hi
One of our vehicles received a parking notice from Athena in respect of exceeding free parking limit at Lidl.
He was there for 22 mins, exceeding the 10 free mins allowed. I wrote to them advising they are legally only allowed to charge for losses and that I calculated them to be nil, allowing 2 lots of 10 mins free parking and a couple of minutes for the second vehicle to arrive & park. I also pointed out that 10 mins free in a supermarket is a ridiculous allowance, having been in the queue at checkout longer than that!
Today I received a letter advising that customers are actually in fact allowed 90 mins parking, but the details of the vehicle have to be entered on a computer at the till. While I can't say this is applicable for every branch, my local branch does not have notices to this affect anywhere visible. They have also said that if the driver can prove he was shopping there on the date in question, they will consider an appeal. 2 months on, the chances of having a till receipt are pretty remote and he paid in cash.
Any suggestions on where to go from here?

This is exactly the sort of thing you should be telling the branch manager and CEO of Lidl.
"Unless you cancel this speculative invoice I will never set foot in a Lidl shop again. I will tell all my friends, colleagues, and family what has happened and why they should also shop elsewhere."
Other words are available.
Complaints to Lidl should be done AS WELL as appealing the PCN by using the appeal template in the NEWBIES thread exactly as it is. Do not reveal who was driving.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister.

I had a successful appeal on the grounds that the new signs were not clear enough. I spoke to the manager of the branch - he said that they'd had complaints from customers about the signs and that he'd several times requested larger/clearer signs from Athena but nothing had happened. I included that info in the appeal together with stuff about how I'd shopped there before the new regs. and wasn't aware of the changes.0

There isn't one for Athena, but there is one for all parking companies in the Sticky thread for NEWBIES, your one shop stop for all private parking tickets.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister.

Why would you want one for a particular firm when the one in the NEWBIES thread is deliberately written as 'one-size-fits-all'? DO NOT ADD ANYTHING TO IT.lynntcampbell wrote: »Where do I find the template letters to Athena.

LynnPRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
