Not sure what to expect to be honest. I doubt it'll be as exciting as going to the real darts. I might be in the audience by myself :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

......and one of the contestants won't turn up and they'll have to pluck someone from the audience to take part. That'll be me because I'm the only person there.......
Better put my darts in my handbag just in case  :D :rotfl:

Now that would be awesome :D not you being in the audience yourself I hasten to add :p :rotfl: all that's missing is your pilot to fly you there and back :D

Being on telly is not something I'd like  :o Good grief, I spend half my life watching what I'm saying in my own house in case it ends up on YouTube :rotfl::rotfl: DS2 never goes far without his video camera.

Last night we had the reduced ham tagliatelle from waitrose which I got for 79p (would have been £2.50) each on Sunday and these were really lovely - very filling, not too bad on calories at least.
OH prefers the lighter carbonara sauces to tomato based ones.

I am just wondering how difficult would it be to make myself from scratch? I would worry about the ham bit as we don't usually like the mechanically recovered and squeezed into to a ham brick version.

I had no flat breads left so OH said do a cheese pizza to go with it and it really went well, pizza base soaked up the yummy sauce nicely :D

In America dominos deliver pasta in a garlic bread bowl. Lush.

Carbonara is very easy to make. Fry up some bacon in olive oil. Add seasoning black pepper ect. Add cream. I use Elmlea light double cream. As cream heats add parmesan (I use the dried hard cheese as keeps well in fridge).
When your sauce is ready add cooked pasta stir in 2 egg yolks. Doesn't need long as egg will keep cooking in the heat when served.
Takes a bit to perfect it how you like it, dd adds in grated cheddar as well.

Same principle but use smoked salmon scraps to fried salad onions and don't add cheese.

Actually a very cheap dish. Portion control I would use almost a full standard elmlea if cooking for 2 but adjust if you like a wetter sauce.

I cook the bacon sauce in wok then easy to have room to add cooked pasta.
    Hope that helps you.

    Evening all

Just doing my daily catch up.
Quiet day today but managed to cull another full bin bag of clothes from my wardrobe. Very please with myself.
Suppose I am just putting off sorting through the boxes of books from attic and clearing my art room but art room is slowly being culled.
I have a huge amount of card making materials I need to gift to a good home. I dread to think what I have spent on them. Will keep my favourite sets and papers but bulk is going.
Popped to sainsbobs for couple of things tonight and looked at sale clothing. Absolutely nothing I wanted but I did buy another pair of pjs for holiday.
Insurance doesn't cover us cancelling and N's mum is insistent she still goes. Dd will be on standby incase N needs to fly home urgently and she needs a flight booking. We will have plenty of wifi and in port everyday for phone calls.

Meeting N for a pedicure and hug tomorrow.

House Elf, I think doing your own flowers sounds lovely. Flowers are such a huge expense. I hope everything is going as well as can be expected. Remember I am only at the other end of a pm.

    Love and hugs to all

  • Afternoon all,
A quick question that someone hopefully, will know the answer to.
If someone contacts a solicitors company enquiring about a deceased persons will can or will the lawyer then inform the deceased persons next of kin that said enquiry had been made?
    Thanking you.

Not sure if next of kin would be informed only if an executor I think.
Solicitor will not give out details of will unless there is an official will reading. Not sure if they do those any more.

I must get to bed soon. Lots of driving is tiring this week.

I did get some good news yesterday. I've had some barbed comments about this subject in the past so I'll just say it and if you don't like it.....then move on to the next post :o

The consultant I have been seeing runs some private clinics in this area and I was given the go ahead by my insurance company to get private treatment from him at one of them yesterday. I was really keen to stay with him as I've did a lot of research on him and he comes with a fantastic reputation. He's also heavily involved with clinical research/trials. I'm all for this and took part in a very in depth one with DS2 in the past. New treatments and understandings are only found through these things. Besides that I have a rapport with him which is important. He's been very candid and I appreciate that.

So I have an appointment in October with him......for my first test to see if I'm still smouldering :p I hope I am

    Evening all.
Thank you for your kind words.
I've just caught up with a few skips and jumps and wanted to send hugs to ladyshopper.
I also saw peeps were buying bargain Oleander plants. Please please be very careful with these, they are highly poisonous to people and animals and can cause death if ingested.. The sap can cause dermatitis, the smoke from burning fallen leaves or prunings is toxic too. I am horrified that there does not seem to be info about this on the plant labels.
Have a quick read, or Google it for more info. I'm only aware of it as it grows all over Antigua, and the locals are all very aware of the dangers.
    http://myria.com/are-oleander-plants-really-poisonous

    Effects of poisoning found online

Oleandrin, one of the toxins present in oleander

Ingestion of this plant can affect the gastrointestinal system, the heart, and the central nervous system. The gastrointestinal effects can consist of nausea and vomiting, excess salivation, abdominal pain, diarrhea!that may or may not contain blood, and especially in!horses,!colic.[7]!Cardiac reactions consist of irregular heart rate, sometimes characterized by a racing heart at first that then slows to below normal further along in the reaction. Extremities may become pale and cold due to poor or irregular circulation. The effect on the central nervous system may show itself in symptoms such as drowsiness, tremors or shaking of the muscles,!seizures, collapse, and even!coma!that can lead to death.

Oleander sap can cause skin irritations, severe eye inflammation and irritation, and allergic reactions characterized by!dermatitis.[23]

    Treatment

Poisoning and reactions to oleander plants are evident quickly, requiring immediate medical care in suspected or known poisonings of both humans and animals.[23]!Induced vomiting and!gastric lavage!are protective measures to reduce absorption of the toxic compounds. Charcoal may also be administered to help absorb any remaining toxins.[7]!Further medical attention may be required depending on the severity of the poisoning and symptoms. Temporary cardiac pacing will be required in many cases (usually for a few days) till the toxin is excreted.

Digoxin immune fab!is the best way to cure an oleander poisoning if inducing vomiting has no or minimal success, although it is usually used only for life-threatening conditions due to side effects.[citation needed]

Drying of plant materials does not eliminate the toxins. It is also hazardous for animals such as!sheep,!horses,!cattle, and other grazing animals, with as little as 100!g being enough to kill an adult horse.[24]!Plant clippings are especially dangerous to horses, as they are sweet. In July 2009, several horses were poisoned in this manner from the leaves of the plant.[25]!Symptoms of a poisoned horse include severe diarrhea and abnormal heartbeat. There is a wide range of toxins and secondary compounds within oleander, and care should be taken around this plant due to its toxic nature. Different names for oleander are used around the world in different locations, so, when encountering a plant with this appearance, regardless of the name used for it, one should exercise great care and caution to avoid ingestion of any part of the plant, including its sap and dried leaves or twigs. The dried or fresh branches should not be used for spearing food, for preparing a cooking fire, or as a food skewer. Many of the oleander relatives, such as the desert rose (Adenium obesum) found in East Africa, have similar leaves and flowers and are equally toxic.

This is just for information cos I am concerned that people don't know about the dangers.

Off to bed now, night all.
