I have a friend who keeps quite a large flock and hers have been all but wiped out twice. It's heartbreaking

Absolutely agree with this. Lost most of our hens in the spring this year to a fox, killed and then left them lying. Horrendous. Also had lambs lost too.
Also almost a year ago friend's cat was attacked by a fox and lost his lower jaw. Took the cat a long time to get over it and still struggles with solid food now so they have to give him mushy cat food.
Don't get me started on the bunny huggers who are against hunting with no idea of rural life.Life is a coin, you can spend it anyway you wish, but you can only spend it once.

I do think a lot of the 'do-gooders' would not mind so much if it was done more humanly, and not as a sport causing the fox as much distress as possible. And lets be fair, there has to be more efficient ways to kill a fox than chasing it for miles with dogs.“Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?”

PROUD to support a ban on hunting and long may it continue.
However I do understand that culls are necessary and if required then more humane ways should be adopted.0 -

I was brought up in the country and we had livestock including hens and ducks. Many were lost to foxes and It seems worse now. I also used to go hunting and was saddened when it was banned as this opened the door to Mr Fox and look what he is doing now. There's no place like home

I still have my girls :J
For now. We are getting those spikes you put on top of walls, and putting them along the edges of the top of the run, so hopefully they might stop it jumping on the roof.
I will do anything to protect my girls. It's heartbreaking to see the mess they leave behind. They "dealt" with a seagull or pigeon in front of the run yesterday, leaving feathers everywhere. It was almost as if the bloody thing was taunting the girls :mad:I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Health & Beauty, Greenfingered Moneysaving and How Much Have You Saved boards.
