    What is very possible is the scenario which glentoran pointed out. On this forum we do indeed see instances of Landlords taking payments which the Tenant cannot later substantiate. You would get more respect from me if you acknowledged that risk rather than pooh poohing glentoran. It would leave you room to be amusing rather than pathetic with your joke about funding Syrian terrorism.

    Unlikely. The tax man is likely to inquire why the rental income has suddenly halved. But provided the LL is resident in the UK, their tax affairs are not really of any concern to the tenant.
