So she does claim something already; what about the other things I mentioned?
She can also make a joint claim for ESA.0 -
They get child tax credits, and child benefit..(they have 3 children 4th due in 8 weeks) my daughter has always worked until the birth of her 3rd child when she has been so dibilitated with depression and has now got to the stage where she cannot function. (yes i know they shouldnt be having a 4th but it so wasn't planned) Her husband is a very hard worker and does not want to give up work because he wants to provide for his family, but they have no choice now as she cannot look after herself never mind the children. She is waiting to see a psychiatrist at the mo to try and treat this horrible disablilty. Because thats exactly what it is!Muggles :EasterBun xxxx0

And I assume they are getting housing benefit and council tax benefit ontop of their child tax credits and child benefit so all is not as bad as you think. Added onto his wages just now and carers allowance and DLA0

Gosh all that form filling.
It's a shame the powers that be can't come up with a generic claim form that can be filled it, photocopied, and sent to the relevant departments.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

Ask at the council if one of the Welfare Advisors could come and visit. They will know everything your daughter and son-in-law may be entitled to and will fill in all the forms for them.0
