Ctrl keys not working

I've got an HP Envy M6 laptop which had been getting pretty hot so I took it apart to clean the fan etc.

Upon reassembling it again the control keys no longer work. The keyboard ribbon, was stuck down to the chassis but I was as careful as possible before removing it from the clip. Could I have damaged the ribbon that would only affect the CTRL keys? :/

I've tried removing it, and reattaching it. I've tried deleting the keyboard under the device manager. Turning off. Removing the keyboard ribbon and reattching then restarting the machine. Nothing.

Any ideas before I splash out on a new keyboard? :undecided
