No interest on Autotrader ad - any advice?

Hi there,

I listed my car on autotrader 4 days ago but have had absolutely no enquiries so far! I originally listed it at £9250 which seemed reasonable compared to what else I'd seen but I've now reduced it down to just under £9000, and now £8745 in the hope of getting a quick sale.

Could anyone offer any advice that might help me out?

THanks!

    THanks!

Just did a quick quote on webuyanycar and got a valuation for £8575, so theres a quick sale for you so long as it is as described.

    Terrible advert in my opinion.
Excellent condition M Sport in most desirable colour, and premium interior!
looks like a google translation a scammer would use.

0208 number hiding your identity. Add to above that puts me off further.

1 wheel is brand new and the rest are scuffed, I would want pictures of the scuffed ones not the new one. I would be wondering how bad the others were because you wouldnt take pictures of them.

Well yes are there any cars that dont have that these days except the budget Dacia and a few lightweight sporty models? What ICE does it have?

Tyre pressure control? Can you inflate the tyres from within the car? Tyre pressure monitor not control?

Full Service History? Not a BMW one? Is it a KwikFit one? I want to know that its wanted for nothing and you cherish it, Do you have a suitcase full of receipts?

Professional Sat Nav DVD ? Define Professional? is that one over £120 from China?

And finally 5 Owners? As above flog it to the trade and be shot of it.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll try and improve the ad.

Try eBay. I found auto trader useless selling my last car.

I shifted my last 2 cars (similar price bracket as OP) in a couple of days via Gumtree.
Loads of good photos (50+) and listed everything I knew about it in normal - non sales brochure - language.
Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.

    Another vote for Gumtree.

I've sold two cars on there, one sold the day I listed it and the other a day later.

I was even more impressed when I listed an unused motorbike helmet, someone rang within 5 mins of it being advertised and they had paid and collected it 20mins later.

In defence of the OP - I sold a car through autotrader and it gives a fake number that routes calls to your phone so your actual phone number isnt plastered all over the internet and once the ad is gone people wont be bothering you calling about the car...

Never mind that you are competing in a price range that people want finance and dealership backing and hopefully a warranty to look after those, perceived, delicate, cars, but your pictures are shocking.
Even if you can't find a tree or a hedge to form your background, even picturing it on plain black tarmac and pictured so close that the surroundings are blocked out is preferable. Take far more pictures than you are going to use and throw out the ones that cast shadows, have sunlight flashes obscuring things etc.
Get a cheap sim and use that number in the ad. too. There are too many reports of ATs secure system being of dubious quality.

I change cars a lot and I have never managed to sell one via autotrader. I usually try autotrader, Pistonheads and ebay - my cars have always sold via ebay with costs from 2k to 23k.

My usual method, 7-10 day auction finishing on a Sunday evening, if it doesn't sell use the free relist for a 30 day advert. Or maybe I do it the other way around, more likely, can't remember now!
