Light wont switch off

Help please
Last night i went to turn off my living room light but it will not switch off. I haven't made any changes or adjustment for at least three months. I have removed the light switch and tested it on a another light and it works. I have used a different switch on the offending light but it still wont turn off.
Any ideas?
