Ring tax credits and ask them. If they can do it over the phone they will if not they will tell you they need to send a formBaby Ice arrived 17th April 2011. Tired.com! :j0

Hi Char22,
I have changed my Child Benefit over the phone but this was last year. I should think they still do it.

Hello,
You can change your bank details over the phone for both Tax Credits & Child Benefit. You just need to be able to confirm previous bank's name, account number & sort code (same for the new bank aswell). Also, which ever department you phone, ask tem to email the other one and they will do it for you.

BUT if you get the same problem, it doesn't always work!! I gave them the details of my new bank account over the phone and they changed it, however, I then got a letter saying that there was a system fault and that they could no longer pay the money into my bank account and I will have to have giros instead from now on. They have no idea when they can fix the fault! This is so frustrating, as I am due to go on holiday and my money will be coming in the post whilst I am away so I can't pay it into my account, so my account will be overdrawn!!!!!!0
