Odd marks Lock&Lock containers

My recent glass food storage containers from Lock&Lock all have brown marks/scratches on the rim. I've informed the company in the UK. It looks like the scratches are a result of a manufacturing issue but the brown colour is baffling us all. Is there a glass expert whom I can contact in the UK? The product is made in China and I doubt they will investigate this unless pushed. And I don't see anyone pushing them. Lock&Lock containers are great for storage and attractive to boot. But brown scratches?

I can't imagine they will care in the slightest, nor can I suggest how you can make them.

Are you willing to pay for them to be examined?

Yes, I am willing to pay for them to be examined. I love these glass containers. And I want all other fans to store their food in safe containers.

Please don't tell me about picking battles. I know life can be short but I care about people and specifically, the other customers. Shoot me! I suspect that China won't be efficient but it's a possible health hazard so we need to find out for ourselves, in the UK. If you disagree, ok, but I've made a choice so let me get on with it. It may not interest you but it interests me. If you have no info that might help me, don't waste your time responding on this thread. Thank you.

Have passed the information on to the CAB, to be considered by Trading Standards.

I didn't know they did glass ones? Sounds fancy!

Anyway, your deal is with the vendor, whoever sold them to you, and theirs is with their supplier etc right up the chain.

It could be that the glass was slightly prematurely cool on that mould and instead of flowing cleanly, folded/wrinkled slightly. If it's gone brown, probably not ideal, possibly a food trap, so take them back.

Glass is a safer material for food storage than plastics. If you've had breast cancer, you come across such info. (I used to store my soup in an aluminium pan. A nurse told me not to.)

I have had replacements but all those are affected too. Problem is that the lady who sent them checked them before they were sent and saw nothing. So she's a little 'baffled'. I saw them only by placing something white, or a finger, underneath the rim. I first saw them when drying them with a white tea towel. You don't see most of the marks just by looking at the rim. It needs something underneath it. the marks also showed up after I took the container with soup out of the fridge. That too shows up the mark. They are not doing that type of testing at the supplier, so I've bought a new container from a different company. Meanwhile, I've sent one affected container back to Lock&Lock with a plastic marker tape to point to the scratches. Now they should see it. It's the brown colour that also bothers me. The initial communication between UK supplier and Chinese manufacturers was hindered by the latter's limited English. At least Pyrex is French.

Thank you for a possible explanation. appreciate your comment.
