Barclaycard default policy

crystal-pixie - I think if Barclaycard choose not to follow ICO guidelines despite publicising that they subscribe to The Lending Code then they probably won't listen to us. To be fair I am not sure if they are still doing this now as I think I did read on one post that someone at Barclaycard said they had changed their policy regarding defaults so I think most of the issues on here are how they used to do things in the past and now they are correcting it. From what I have read they do seem to be good at putting it right so I suppose it is just a case of contacting them and taking it from there. If lots of other people have had success then others should be OK too providing the situations are similar. CONC 7 of the Financial Conduct Authority handbook states that a firm must establish and implement clear, effective and appropriate policies and procedures for dealing with customers whose accounts fall into arrears. Just wish I knew what that policy is. I no longer have my original t&c and know I could do a CCA request to see if anything is stated there but from what I have read about CCA requests I doubt they would have mine due to the age of the account. That is a whole other issue though and I am only really interested in getting these AP markers removed so I can move on with my life as I am at a major turning point at the moment.0

Thats good if they have made changes to how they deal with defaults Movingon. With the subject of Mortgages I am just in the middle of becoming a homeowner again after a disasterous divorce (hence all the debt!). Its looking very positive even with 2 defaults and at one point £65k of debt (2011).
Not sure where you live but being Bristol based I was very fortunate to have a branch of Handelsbanken near me. They gave me a current account and 18 months down the line they are looking at a joint mortgage and giving me a charge card and overdraft.
Sometimes I feel that banks are too automated - Handelsbanken took my circumstances into account (high earner and safe job). Didn't credit score me and talked everything over with me. The fact that they will even consider me is amazing. So I would recommend them if there is a branch near you.0 -
Never heard of them but just googled and looks very interesting. You say they didn't credit score you but did you tell them about your debt and defaults ? A mortgage is what I am dreaming of.0

I thought a dmp, creditors are not obliged to agree to entering an agreement.
I know about the 2015 reporting timescale after dmp completes.
What is the affect of the AP markers staying on file?
noodle/check my file states account status 'normal' with the monthly AP makers.
example my 'score' is low 500 range. Will there be any affect with 6 yrs + AP markers after dmp ends be it positive or negative?

iv'e been with SC.dmp since 2012,
My barclaycard is showing the AP markers.
I've recently noticed that barclaycard will report 6 yrs after account closure.
Apart from the posts and attempts to get Barclays to default the account.
Is there 1 example of someone who has let the AP marker run for the duration?
o.k. my credit history won't be clear...though am I correct in saying it will Improve when the account is closed?
Asking as my dmp is due to complete 11/2019 so i'm not going to panic and push for a default....lets be honest a dmp is what it is whatever the reason.I 'lost' control of may finances 2012.
I've had Ar markers on 2 accounts from 2008 fell in arrears dec 2007 one account paid in full last September they still marking it ar and and arrangement header , the other has a small balance left which I would hope to have paided by the end of the year , all my defaults long gone thou Sainsbury tried re newing there's , I still am only allowed a basice account I ve been with my bank 30 plus years never owed them nothing , so no in my case things did not in prove one little bit0 -
AP markers are viewed almost as bad as a default by creditors and can still stop you getting credit like a mortgage. Your credit file won't really improve till all defaults and AP markers have fell off.0

Can you advise why BC are reporting my account status Normal whilst AP markers are being applied?Replenished CRA Reports.2020 Nissan Leaf 128-149 miles top charge. Savings depleted. VM Stream tv M250 Volted to M350 then M500 since returned to 1gb0

I think you will need to call them to explain that. I have spoke with people in customer services and complaints and they have all been friendly and polite. Maybe start with calling customer services and they might put you through to whichever team reports to the credit reference agencies. I called a number on their website.
However they are reporting this if an arrangement to pay is showing on the record it is negative and in my opinion you would be better asking them to backdate a default. There is a good post on this site with an example letter to use. I will try to find it and link it.0 -

Movingon - re: Handelbanken mortgages. They do not use computerised credit scoring but they do ask about your circumstances and instead of "Computer says no" they evaluate based on your future position.
I did tell them about the debt but because it is now paid they did not seem to be ask concerned about defaults/AP markers etc.
I have 6 defaults on my credit as well as AP markers. I did tell them and was very open and honest about what happened. Its quite nice not to be judge just on what is on your credit report.0
