My current fix for Gas and Electicity expires at the end of September. When should I start the switching process?

Hi. Under Ofgem rules, your present supplier should notify you that your tariff is coming to an end in the period 49 to 42 days before the 30th September. You are then free to switch without penalty (i.e.; exit fees). Provided your new supplier receives details from your supplier that you have asked to switch within 20 days post the end of September, then you will remain on your present tariff until the switch goes through. There is no need to notify your present supplier that you are switching. Switching is managed by the gaining supplier. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Thanks. I had my notification through from my current supplier yesterday, so maybe they are a bit early. I think I'll wait til Sept before I start switching. What goes around comes around.....I hope!0

Sorry, I am not sure that I understand. They have notified you as they are required to do so by Ofgem. If you initiate a switch today, it will take at least 17 days to go through but no more than 35. That said, if you are happy with the tariff that you are on, then you can wait until the end of September to initiate the switch. I hope that it goes well. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
