I received a letter of Notice of Application for warrant of entry from EDF Energy.
The court date is set for Monday morning.
Balance Outstanding for Gas is 482.98
Balance Outstanding for Gas is 190.90
The Gas is an estimated bill and the meter hasn't been read in nearly 18 months.
The Elec bill is also estimated but the meter has been read in the last 3 months.
I'm currently unemployed and on benefits. I paid 25.00 towards each bill last week and plan to pay some money towards both accounts today.
The warrant of entry is so that EDF can install prepayment meters. I heard over the years what a nightmare they are and I really don't want them.
I really don't want a prepay meter !!!
Can anyone help with me with some ideas?
I'm going to court to state reasons why the warrant should not be granted and I need some pointers. I realise it's my fault beacuse the meters have not been read. My bills are always overestimated and the last time the bills were so high I just sent them a up to date reading and both bills were drastically reduced and easier to pay !!!
I going to pay some money towards it today but I really don't want prepaymeters.....please help !!!

Why don't you provide them with the current readings, especially for the gas. If the bills are drastically reduced they may be happier with your attempts to pay them.0

They are entitled take you to court on estimated bills, so you have no defence there, so I would take fabbers' advice if I was you

To be honest I doubt you have much of a defence, as EDF aren't actually disconnecting you, but instead basically saying they don't want to give you credit any more, which isn't unreasonable. However hopefully someone wll be along who can give you some help, but I think you're up the creek to be honest.
Your best bet is to try to negociate a repayment amount you can afford (ie #10 a week on each meter). Once the debts have been paid, move to a new supplier and apply for the meters to be taken back out.0 -
Cheers Fabbers.
I've sent current reading but have not received the updated bill.
I've to go to go to court on monday morning..
What shall I say in court?0
