This may be one of the last newspaper postings, because it's probably become increasingly irrelevant and, frankly, a bit of a chore. Anyone else care to take it over?

Reviewing the front pages does seem to have become less relevant in recent years, largely, if I'm reading the situation correctly, because the papers have had far fewer offers than they used to have.

Thanks for persevering with it so far Doc!

I'm not volunteering to take over (sorry Doc), but one alternative, if you do cease doing it, is at http://tomorrowspaperstoday.com/

thought the MSE staff might take it over?? site has much less content these days since it went 'commercial'. Losing the paper thread would just take it down even more. thanks doc for your long lasting postings.

Thanks for the kind words - and the comments about MSE, which I heartily endorse.

That was actually one of the things I had in mind. MSE used to be the place to look for up to the minute deals, bargains etc, but it's no longer where people go.

People go mainly to https://www.hotukdeals.com for that now, and it's very evident indeed that by the time anything finds its way onto MSE (usually as a repost from HUKD) it's usually sold out or not worth having!

There were postings on the Grabbit board the other day about a £10 of £50 Amazon one day only deal, for example, but because they were moved by the mods, very few people saw them and a lot of people will have lost out as a result. On HUKD, however, it was highly visible for the whole day.

I think MSE has had its day so far as Grabbits and discount codes are concerned - other websites such as HUKD have taken over. It's still useful for other things, but I think it's lost its way of late, and that's one of the reasons I'm considering giving up these daily posts. They were relevant, I hope, but maybe not now.

Thanks for your sterling work, Doc. However, I'm forced to agree with your comments re relevance. I have enjoyed the overview of the front pages, but disregard them as an early-alert system for bargain hunting, which I think was the original intention.

I agree there seems to be much less offers, and certainly money off coupons in papers are as rare as hens teeth these days......

But I always take a look at the front pages....just in case !!

    Agree 1000%
I used to be constantly checking the Grabbit thread - there could be a whole page or 2 of new threads a day. These days there is virtually nothing.
I spent 90% of my time on line perusing MSE - from the discussion threads to the Freebies, Grabbits, and of course Discount codes etc....
Now I spend most of my time on HUKD....

I don't know WHY on earth they messed with the set up at MSE. If it had worked successfully for so many years to make it such a Valuable commodity to buy/sell - WHY did they have to change it???????
They must have lost thousands of regulars:cool:

MSE always used to be my first port of call when I wanted to find out the latest offers, best deals...
Now I struggle to find ANYTHING:mad:

I have even given up on the discussion threads as the PC brigade here keep pulling threads ....... talk about freedom of speech/ Je suis Charlie.......
    Joke !!

Any mods care to add a comment here?

What we're saying is that MSE is losing out (and financially too, because of click-throughs) to HUKD as a direct result of its own policies.

The words 'shooting' 'oneself' and 'foot' spring readily to mind. :)

Yes I post a lot of original stuff I see on my travels and quite a few have either just vanished or been moved with no note to say where or how. In fact I nearly gave up posting as I use HOTUK mostly but some of the old posters on here are still loyal! But for how long? Also; having so many categories takes ages to peruse HOTUK just has a few and is so much more user friendly.
