DFS sofa problem

Options
Hi,

I purchased the DFS Langford sofa from DFS in December. When I purchased it I was told I should plump the bottom cushions once a week to prevent them sinking in, but after a few days it kept sinking in so we started plumping it everyday even though there's only 3 of us in the house and is only ever been used very lightly.
I contacted DFS and they said they would send someone out take a look at the sofa, he said everything was ok and we should plump 3-4 times per day. The problem is it the cushions keep sinking in, and if I knew this I would need to do this I would never have bought the sofa in the first place, He gave us the option of having the cushions padded at cost price of £30 instead of the normal £60.
I have since phoned DFS sales for the call record from when I purchased the Sofa and they said they haven't got it but the advisor did mention that plumping the sofa 3-4 times a day is a bit excessive but nothing can be done?

Can I do anything or am I stuck with the sofa? Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
thanks

I am going back a few years but DFS have issues of sagging sofa's before. It should not do this after a few weeks. They need replacing. I would demand this to be changed as this is clearly faulty on arrival.

The problem is that you have the fibre filled cushions (the extra padding would be replacing the fibre with foam). The best way to think of fibre is like a great big pillow so it does sink naturally and require more maintenance than foam (though foam still needs plumping!)

Ask if you can have a service manager out to fill the cushions as it may well be that they were under-filled at production. If all else fails you could ask to speak to a manager and pay for the upgrade for the foam cushions - most will allow you to take up the offer of the original £30 you should of paid rather than the £60.

thanks for the replies. Yes I have the fibre filled cushions, but my issue is they initially said it will only need plumping once a week and then it went to everyday.
The service manager has been out he said the sofa is ok and it should be plumped 3-4 times a day, which is way too much.
He offered me the padded cushions for £30 but if I have to plump it even after the cushions have been padded then that definitely not acceptable.
I would have never have bought the sofa if I knew it was gonna be this bad.

You have to plump every cushion you purchase the issue here is how much you want to plump it. Fibre is a couple of times a day foam is once every so often - the best thing to do with foam is to turn it over every couple of months and swap the cushions around - you also get given care advice on the bottom of your sales contract.

3 suites I've had in the last 12 years, not one of them has required me to plump them.

Then again, I've never bought any of them from DFS :D

11 year old DFS leather sofas. Never "swapped" the cushions around, never plumped them. Still look good, despite occasional use as a trampoline by our daughter :D

None of them "require" plumping it's care advice as in to get the best out of them. Every piece of furniture's interiors will soften by some amount over time, I don't think it's unreasonable to assume that the ones that were built 11 years ago have a better density of foam than the newer ones?

To be expected to plump them 3-4 times a day when we only sit on it 3-4 times a day on sofa that is less than a year old is not acceptable.

Fibre is like a big pillowcase - you have to plump your bed pillow or it will start to bunch up and become flat and crap - granted not as fast as its only your head and not your entire body. Fibre sinks that's just what happens to them - if you don't want to maintain the furniture buy the foam upgrades. FYI all leather couches are foam interiors or at worst foam-topped. Fabric you get the option you chose the cheaper (softer) option.
