Samsung galaxy tab4 won't turn on!

Hi all, as the title says, I've a samsung galaxy tab4 and it won't turn on. It has 49% charged battery, but whenyou press the on switch, it flashes on the opening, but immediately goes blank again. It was a gift given to me at the beginning of April this year. The giver is on holiday at the moment so cannot ask where it was bought. Has anyone had this problem?
It is not heavily used, more for gaming etc. It is 16gb + I've a 64gb storage card so I know that the memory is not full. I'm going to put it on charge to see if it makes any difference when fully charged.
If anyone has any ideas what the problem could be, or how to solve it, I would be grateful.
Thanks in advance.
PS It'not been dropped, or got wet, nor been roughly handled.

Thanks for getting back to me. Even though it read 49% battery, it had actually drained completely. All I needed to do was charge it up. I must have left a programme open instead of turning it off and closing it down which killed the battery.
All sorted now, thank you.0
