Advice on tenant deposits and rent/bill payments

The lodger can be a tenant thing? Yes that is possible.
However the OP can take a lodger in and it be just a lodger.
The OP isn't in a position to manage the tenancy.0 -
Sorry, lodger. Yes, I've read and understand the advice and recognise that not securing the deposit was a mistake.
I do however think that she should be paying for the bills until the time she leaves, which so far she hasn't done.
I have however suggested forgetting the remaining bills and returning the deposit if I can check the room asap. Once before I relied on their good will and they left it in a state.0 -

Yes absolutely she should. Really you need to do an approximate amount and let her know in advance.
Check the room and give her a chance to rectify anything wrong.
Obviously dont return deposit until she leaves.
Next time, agree a lodgers agreement between you and lodger. Then you avoid this whole problem.0 -
