Hi all,
My husband and I are working in Greece this summer and have got Greek bank accounts and all the proper paperwork to ensure we are paid properly and are paying tax etc while we are here. Wondering how best to transfer the money we are being paid back to the UK. Our bank accounts are with Greek national bank and UK account is Halifax. Can anyone recommend what to do or advise on how much you can transfer to UK or travel with in cash (euros) when we fly home please

Go to the Greek bank with your Halifax details and passports. The rest is pretty straight forward.0

Are you sure you are allowed to transfer money out? My daughter lives in Greece and has asked me to transfer sterling into her UK account, as they can't use Greek euros overseas (such as ordering from Amazon, etc.)somewhere between Heaven and Woolworth's0

I have not heard about the currency controls on foreign transfers being lifted.
I am not recommending their circumvention by carrying cash, but (to answer OP's question) there is a general requirement to declare amounts over €10,000 carried between European countries. In theory if you have a valid reason and innocent source there is no actual limit.Evolution, not revolution0
