A mis-sold annual travel insurance that has been used

Hi. An elderly relative was mis-sold an annual travel insurance that she required quite a few years ago for a single trip. She has been paying each month. She now requires travel insurance for a a new single trip, and the bank supplying the insurance has said to use it for this trip she must pay an additional sum. If she uses this insurance for this trip will it prevent her from being able to claim back all amounts previously inappropriately charged by the bank?

I assume this is an insurance attached to a package account?

    Or is this standalone insurance?

How or why does she think it was mis-sold?

How was it mis-sold? (you dont say)

Annual travel insurance for the elderly was often cheaper than single trip insurance. I recall recommending annual travel insurance when people needed single trip cover for that very reason.
