Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts Name Dropper I've been Money Tipped!
I have decided the time is nigh for me to have a sat nav.

Can someone recommend one. As I am little lost as to what buy.

I know there are Tom tom, Garmin and other off brands. not fussed about it having international maps as I don't go abroad.

Not even sure of the budget I suppose about £80 ish max

Thanks in advance.

Yours

Calley

I picked up a returned Tomtom GO 50 off Amazon for £83. You need a phone with a data contract so Tomtom will get traffic updates via the mobi (connected via Bluetooth)

IMHO a satnav without a way of getting traffic-jam info isn't worth bothering with.

NB If you have an iOS phone the Tomtom app is good. I tried the Sygic app on Android and it fell well short of Tomtom, so I went with a dedicated unit.

I have used TomTom for years and had a Route 66 also for a while. So TomTom all the way and Halfords have a Start 25 for £79, I know you said you don't need overseas maps but it has free lifetime updates so well worth it. They also have a Garmin for £10 less but I have no experience of Garmin so can't comment on it.

I have a garmin, and the traffic, road works / closures etc come straight to the unit without any need for a phone. So I am sure that there are both TomTom and Garmin units that will do this without the need for bluetooth to a phone.

Used to use TomTom, now my iPhone 6 works fine with Google maps, it does a great job of changing the route based on traffic!
    Be happy :j
