Question about staying in Canada

Hello All

Im going to America next month and during my trip will be spending a night in Niagara Falls.

All of the best hotels seem to be on the Canada side, do i need a special visa to stay there for the night as well as the normal visa which i will need to fill in at New York?

Comments

  • no it's fairly straightforward...give niagara on the lake a visit if you have time.
be aware that 2 blocks back from the falls on the canadian side can be a bit tacky ....but perfectly safe
if you're are driving up to the falls from the south think about having a look at letchworth state park

Thanks for that Hammy, i'll be getting the train into Amtrak, Niagara Falls which is on the American side, so can i just get a taxi into Canada and get straight to the hotel?

Is it just my passport that they need to see?

    Yes just your passport.

DON'T let them take your visa waiver stub as you will need it to get back to the US.
  • you won't get a taxi into canada ...i think you'll have to walk..unless anyone knows any different
  • oh and they'll stamp your passport

I would recommend not staying at Niagra at all unless you really want/have to. We easily managed to see the falls and the surrounding 'town' in a day trip from Toronto and to be honest by the end of the day I had had enough! The surrounding area, (on the Canadian side at least) is almost as tacky as Blackpool so if you don't have to stay there save your money ;)
