Santander 123 Current Account - No Students Allowed !?

So I have a part-time job & am also a student.

I have saved hard & my savings fill the other good current accounts that pay out interest.

I just went to set up a 123 Santander Current Account and it says

- Over 18
- Live in the UK
- Not a student

Am I the only one annoyed that all these banks offer "Interest Free Overdraft" etc etc and nothing for students that actually save money, and earn money like any other person in the country? Instead of trying to get us borrow more and more money that we don't have.

Do they ever make an exception if you explain you have a job, and have considerable savings? I can't be the only student who has this problem, it really feels such a generic & unfair condition.

They do offer something for students specifically, but only up to £2,000 savings - not £20,000.

Thanks, as always guys.

    You can apply for a 123 account - just go ahead and apply.

    It's incorrect that it states not for students. If you go to a branch they wouldn't bat an eyelid if you are a student or not, just state you have a part-time job and your income and it'll credit check you as anyone else.

    123 Current Account application

    Before you apply, make sure you are:

    at least 18 years old;
    living permanently in the UK;
    are not a student or in full term education.

    Is exactly what it states :/ So just ignore?

    Yes - I opened one when I was a student as well as a 123 Student Account.

    I also opened one as a student. It doesn't say in their T+Cs that you can't have one as a student. Just tell them you have a part time job. It's not lying. You do have one. You are also a student, but you can only put one in the box!

    At least their student account offers some interest - most don't!
