Can't view email on iPad or iphone

Any ideas? Have a hotmail account and since yesterday it's been saying it cannot connect to email and to verify my settings. Done this but still nothing. Deleted the account and reinstalled it but still won't work.
Can log on to hotmail using safari.
Any suggestions? Driving me potty.

"Cant verify settings" usually points to incorrect username/password.
Does your hotmail have "two step verification" setup? http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/two-step-verification-faq
If so you'll need to generate a specific "app password" just for the iPhone and iPad.
Also try deleting the account again and setting it up as "other" rather then selecting the "Outlook" option.0
