Just another question - is anyone who is still using a bottle/teat for an older child still sterilising them?! I read that bottles should be sterilised for as long as they are used, so I am still doing mine :o We don't have a dishwasher so they have to be washed by hand - should I still sterilise them or can I stop now?!

I stopped sterilising at 12months when DD started drinking cows milk. My DD is 2yrs 8mths and is still having a bottle morning and night. I'm considering stopping it when she gets to 3 although I'm not that bothered she drinks all hr other liquids out of a normal cup or a sports bottle if we are out and about.

My 3 year old still has a bottle at night, but it only has water in it.
He loves milk but as soon as one bottle runs out he'd want another straight away, plus i'm trying to see if there is a link between his eczema and dairy.
As far as speech goes, he has speech problelms which may well of been caused by the bottle (he never had a dummy) but the way i see it is my cousins littlw girl wh is 6 weeks younger than him an has a dummy AND bottle speaks perfectly
It's my sons comfort and i am not going to distress him and force him to give it up.

  • Have you tried offering him the choice of a bottle of water or a cup of milk.
If the bottle is a comfort thing he will be better off with water rather than the milk.

just go with the flow if your DS still wants a bottle of milk at night why not! We gave up my dd's bottle about 1 year ago now and even for 6 months everytime she got upset she would cry because she didn't want to be 4 cos she couldn't have a bottle anymore. it's only milk after all.
Other women want a boob job. Honey the only silicone i'm interested in is on a 12 cup muffin tray, preferably shaped like little hearts
