If you call up you ask if your eligible for a credit card.

If they say yes ask if its with intervention if they say yes they will credit search you.

Was planning to use the eligibilty tool to see if i will be eligible, then i will apply through online banking. Then an amount will be generated, and I don't mind the amount as I'm using the card as a backup one.

When I applied for a Clarity card last year, I put in a requested credit limit of £1k (it was completely freeform for me too choose - not prefiltered at all).

At the end of the application, I was shown the credit limit they gave me - £2.6k.

So they'll define your credit limit. Nothing to stop you reducing it if you feel it's too high...

Seems to defeat the object. I think it's better they generate the limit, instead of the customer choosing, as by the looks of it, the result is different after submitting the application.

One thing I did not mention as I was with the HX for banking they were able to tell me I qualified for a £5000 limit. However did not require that much and just put in £1000 and when the online application was processed thats credit limit they gave me.

When my partner applied and tried the eligibility checker it said he had a 90 percent chance and me 40 percent. I was accepted and he got reclined.

Was it because he was too laid back?

For those who got accepeted, was it contactless card, as the picture on the website doesn't reflect that?

They asked me what limit I wanted and totally ignored it (I asked for a low limit and got a much, much higher one)

What limit was given you? What was the low limit you wanted?

So that means it's optional to put a desired credit limit in the text box, since you ignored it?

We were told at the branch that if we wanted a credit card, we could walk in and they would do a soft search first. But an online application does a hard search.
