Eye Laser Surgery

Hi
I am thinking about getting eye laser surgery and the two most popular places to go in Belfast appears to be Optimax and Optical Express. On their respective web sites there appears to be a massive difference between the start price for the procedure per eye.
Has anyone used either company and can recommend them? Is it possible to haggle with the price? Both appear to be highly recommended in the customer reviews.
Thanks

I've just had some laser eye treatment done at Cathedral and have been treated by them on 3 occasions for different things.
I couldn't fault them on customer service, knowledge, and just plain friendliness - nothing is too much trouble and everything is thoroughly explained including risks.
I would never trust my precious eyes to anyone else.
No affiliation just a very happy customer.0 -
OH got her eyes done in Optilase and was very pleased. Life time cover too.. I wouldnt go for the cheapest...

Family members and friends (around 8) all used Ultralase. The one on Derryvolgie. I think it's still there.0

Can you haggle over price or is it a set amount depending on your sight? With a few competitors in the market is there room to negotiate on price?
ThanksVal0 -
Honestly haven't heard of anyone haggling on the price. It was a set amount depending on your sight.
I'm not saying it's not possible, I'm sure there's a cultural reluctance here when it comes to haggling for "medical" procedures.0 -
Has anyone asked Frank Mitchell?
Or Pamela Ballentine?
Or Julian Simmonds?0 -
Have you asked an optician for their opinion .
I have asked a few opticians over the years and all have said I am not suitable and I would still need glasses .(I have varifocal lenses ) ."Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many"0 -
The initial consultation is free so if I am not suitable for lazer surgery I hope they will tell me. All the surgeries in Belfast appear to be very reputable.Val0

Hi just a quick reply to say that you definitely should haggle on the price. It's nearly two years since I had laser eye surgery in Optimax (highly recommended btw) so I cant remember the details but I know I managed to get the price down quite a bit.
Hope this helps!0 -

No Doubt they participated in the ancient practice of bartering - exchanging their fame and time to make the advert in exchange for new eyes!!
I want to see Julian do the Snickers advert - eating the snicker bar and reincarnating as Liz McDonaldJohn0
