Copy SMS from Android to PC ?

I'm wondering if there's a way of copying my text messages from my Android phone to my PC ? Google shows quite a few apps that seem to do this, but I'm very wary of downloading something that'll mess up either my phone or PC. Do any of you good folk have any recommendations for something that's free and simple to use ? Many thanks.

Even simpler if you have email set up on your phone. Most SMS messengers will let you "Share the message via Email"- then it turns up in your email inbox.0
