Youtube and the vanishing progress bar.

Am I the only person in the world that wants the progress bar to not vanish when watching a youtube video?

I can understand in full screen mode, someone maybe watching a movie and want the full screen visible to the video. But when it is in a window and have another window alongside it that I am working in its a PITA.

Google does not seem to have an answer for this, plenty on howto make it vanish and when it vanishes completely, but not one to make it stay.

Anyone come across this?

Mine was OK yesterday the progress bar was alive all the time.

Not a great fix, but I just left my mouse cursor hovering over the Play/Pause button and the progress bar area didn't vanish. You can even leave the cursor underneath the Play/Pause button, right on the edge of the video, so only the fingertip pokes in and it seems to work.

If you leave the cursor anywhere else though, the progress bar vanishes.

I cannot leave the cursor on the bar or play button when i am working in another window though.

It only happened the past few days, before that it was fine.

    Youtube also relying on googlevideo.com?

Best thing I can suggest then is that you contact Youtube directly (via Twitter or Facebook) and ask them. If there is no current way of doing it, then it might, if others make the same complaint, be turned into a setting that can be switched on or off.

I can't find any obvious way of doing it, and as you say, a quick web search turned up nothing.

If you right click on a Youtube video, there should be a 'Report Playback Issue' option. You can use that to send feedback to Google about Youtube, though I have no idea whether they'll pay any attention since it isn't an actual playback issue.

    Worth a shot though, perhaps?
