Car Tax Paid but not showing as on DVLA site.
Hi - this happened a couple of months ago but thought I would mention it to those that have recently bought their car tax online.
I bought a replacement 2nd hand car and paid someone to put it on a trailer to take it home so I could tax it once I arrived. I taxed it online and insured it before I drove it. This was the beginning of May... Didn't really think any more until I visited my house (where I don't spend a lot of time due to my job) at the beginning of July. There was a letter from DVLA dated June, stating I had not taxed my new car etc etc...So I looked on the DVLA site where you can put your registration details in and it tells you if the car is taxed and mot'd and it said it wasn't taxed....
I checked my bank statement and an email which confirmed I had paid to have it taxed. I then rang the DVLA - the woman looked it up and said it's not showing as taxed because the details hadn't been 'updated on the system yet' and that she would 'do this now' but that 'it could take up to 6 weeks to show'!! So basically for up to 3 and a half months it might not have shown as not being taxed.
I just hope that these records are not the ones the police will be using as there will be a lot of wasted time...

Taxing normally shows up within a couple of days, just changed owners / taxed 2 cars and it showed up quickly. How did you tax it ? The correct way is using the number on the new keeper slip. If you use the number on the main V5 when ownership is updated the old owner gets the money back and tax is cancelled.0
