Recent graduate now with first job, I want to get a credit card to start building up a credit history, I intend to pay it off IN FULL each month. Are there any good options or do I just try my bank (RBS) as do not want to get rejected as currently I don't have any credit history.
thanks

One rejection wont damage your credit history too much. You can try with your own bank and if they say no then apply for capital one, aqua or vanquis or (slightly harder to get) Barclaycard initial.
Make sure you're on the electoral register before you apply and always pay in full so you don't get charged interest.
I started with a capital one card last year and 6 months ago applied and was accepted for a barclaycard initial. Both now have good limits on them and I probably would be accepted for a "main stream" card now if I wanted one.0 -
In addition to L Plate's advice above RBS offer a "soft search" facility on their website for their credit cards.
As you're an existing customer there'd be no harm in seeing what the checker comes back with. It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0
