Another one today, shelf label says chicken breast steaks, £2.29 from £2.69. I bought them last week and noticed on my receipt it came through at full price. I only noticed when I got home though.
This week I checked it was the same product and asked they check the price when they scanned. They gave me a refund.
When I got home and I was putting my shopping away I noticed the ham I bought today has gone two days past its use by date.
    Grrrr.

I bought a cabbage and the shelf label clearly said 45p each. So I chose a big one. At the checkout it was weighed at 45p per kilo.

Yes we have been caught with this little sneaky trick............
    Never again though
    Its usually works like this.............
    45p
    per kg

I have another incorrect label, this time the calories. It says on the sliced chorizo 55 calories per slice!!!
On the back it gives the calories per 100g at 350. So going by the 55 calories per slice, there should only be 6ish slices to 100g. There are loads more to 100g.
    But which is correct?

Hardly a trick and not limited to Lidl. Most supermarkets charge red cabbage by weight. Many charge white cabbage by weight. It is usually only savoy and pointed cabbage that is by item.

Different items are priced differently. This is known.

Just got to be vigilant. Aldi stuff tends to be per item, Lidl's more likely to be by weight.

With brocollis that are 'by weight' if you've got a good grip you can snap off the stalk if you don't eat it. No point paying for it. In my local Asda there's often a few broken stalks in the crate. I'm sure the supermarkets don't like it but hey ho.

    Mine said 45p Each.

That's why I was cross, had it been 45p per kilo my cabbage would have been a lot smaller. Because I read the shelf label, I based my selection on value for money.

Another lidl moan. Three items this week came up as not found at the checkout. Instead of checking, they just charged me what I thought they were. No skin off my nose said the cashier as she gave me four bottles of beer for £2.

I personally have not had any problems at Lidl or Aldi. But I have to say it is very hard to keep up at the checkout to check the prices so I always check my receipt as soon as I get home. I do find their shelf prices somewhat confusing though. Have you noticed that some of their prices are above the items and some are below?? When I shopped at Sainsbury's it was a nightmare. I had been known to be overcharged 3 times out of 4 weekly shops. Once I was overcharged twice on one weeks shopping. Now I only shop at Lidl or Aldi.
