I've been entering competitions since i was a child from the kids magazine's but as a proper hobby, around 6 years :) needed something to do in-between not getting out of bed and going to lectures at university ;)
  • about 2 and a half years. I've had some decent win in that time. But nothing really big. Fingers crossed my big win comes soon, but even then i'll still keep comping.

Including previously using a different competition site (which I no longer needed once I'd found MSE! ;)), around two and a half years. That's when I started properly 'comping', really going for it!

Before that, I'd just been entering weekly magazine competitions and won one cash prize in about six or seven years. When I learned about sites like this providing the answers and gained an idea about the number of entrants, I realised I'd been very lucky to have that one win from the magazine. :)
  • I have been enter competitions for 30 years still enjoy it

around 3 years ive been comping properly its been an on and off hobby since i was 4-5 (im a little older than that now)
    Cosplayer and proud
  • I remember my first comp win lol I was 14 years old and it was a re-arrange the word comp I won a alphabet printing kit :D and then on and off doing local stuff. but recently due to circumstances I started what I would call proper comping about 4 months ago.
    so 28 years.
but I do it as a hobby as I find it quite relaxing and a distraction from my hectic stressful life and any win is a bonus.

Believe it or not 35 years , things have changed so much since I started. You had to buy magazines to find competitions and trail round the supermarkets to find entry forms and qualifiers. I used to win so many more prizes in the early days . I won a trailer tent in a slogan competition at Asda for dog food. We had a presentation at the store and I did not admit I had made my cat eat one can of dogfood to be able to enter. We had a buyer lined up who took away the trailer tent after the presentation. I sent loads of postcard entries and had some great wins . It costs less to enter these days but not nearly so profitable but I still try.

If I cared what everyone else thought, I'd be just like everyone else, and there's already too many of them. :A
