I think it would make me more alert to whether I need to improve windows and locks. If I was unfamiliar with the area it might make me concerned about whether I know it that well. However it wouldn't generally put me off a specific property as these things can happen anywhere. Plus car theft and burglary are often acts committed in nice areas due to the pickings available and living in a less nice area possibly just has more of different crime types.
Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!

When I was looking at properties last year I saw one where I didn't need to ask that particular question. There were multiple locks on the back windows, and the alleyway that went round the back of the properties on that street had been gated and locked. It was slightly unsettling but did not put me off the property, apart from wondering just who had the key to the gates, it just made me factor in the cost of a decent burglar alarm.

yes it would in so far as the area has a problem. usually, a gang will be responsible for a load of them in an area.

I'd be worried that any local gang would notice the change of ownership & come back for a second visit.
I'd also worry that my house insurance would cost more.

Yes, it is a really important detail to me because the chance of being burgled again is significantly higher than a house that has never been burgled. Having said that we did view a house that had been burgled a couple of years earlier and if it would have been a bit cheaper it would have got some serious thought regardless. I think the longer ago the burglary the less worrying. Although that might not be true?

Lots of people get security after a break in and are more vigilant so burglars rairly return. Especially if they got crap pickings so I was told by the police anyway
