    If you signed a contract with them and did nothing to cancel it subsequently, they will want their money, as they will say your redress came from their complaint.

    You are now finding out why you should pay them because they will take you to court, unless you have proof that they have conacnelled your contract or that they have agreed to not charge you for work done.

    When did you receive the redress?

    surely that marks the start of the debt as its when they should have been paid, this would be the 6 year start.
