Newbie needing help!! xxx

Hi all

Just a bit of advice please – I have started comping again and taking it a bit more seriously as I am laid up at the moment and have plenty of time on my hands so would appreciate some answers to my comping questions please!

When you ‘retweet’ a comp, do you just press the retweet or do you have to comment as well if it doesn’t say you have to?

I have been doing the comps that end on that day I enter, does it make a difference?

Also I have entered lots of FB/Twitter comps and only have had notifications for a couple of winners names (Not me!!!) How do I know if I may have won?

Thanks everyone x x x

Yep, just retweet button unless they state otherwise. Some say favourite it too.

End day fine - so long as you bear in mind most don't have an end time and a lot of twitter ones finish during the day. Best to do them a day ahead at least.

Make sure your settings are set to notify you if someone sends you a DM (direct message) or tweets your @name.

it will usually say if u need to comment or not, i only comment if it says i need to comment (i have won a twitter comp just from following and retweeting)

I don't think it makes any difference if u enter on first day or last day!

If u win, u will either get tweeted or a direct message (or both) so u will get a notification if u do =)

    hope this helps! x
  • I agree on TW comps, I've always either had a DM or got mentioned in a Tweet.

On FB though I've had some wins with a tag (mention of my Facebook name), reply to a comment or a message but a couple where a note was just posted with my name but not as anything to trigger FB to notify me. Those can be a problem unless you check back to the competition runner's Facebook page, and I never have time to do that.

To help with this there are some good FB groups you can join where other kind souls tag you if they see your name and a social search engine that's helpful if your name isn't that common (mine is so that doesn't help me!). I'm away with work right now but have a look through this forum at some of the earlier discussions on the subject and you'll see the links to the groups.

You don't have to comment although a lot seem to have started replying to the twitter account with things like 'what a great prize have entered' or 'this would be wonderful to win because my third arm is beginning to dig into my waist' or 'your products are the most wonderful in the world'. Its just a way some peeps think tweeting to them as well might give them an edge. It doesn't. A comp will always tell you if you need to reply. good luck for many wins in the future hun xx

If I'm entering a FB comp that just requires a like I usually 'comment' with a smiley face, then I get a notification when the comp host comments and I can check if I'm a winner. But I haven't tested whether I would still get notification if I don't comment!
