lloyds amex avios

I am considering applying for the Lloyds avios credit cards as I already have Club Lloyds with them but the annual fee is making me think about it. Is it worth the fee (and hit to the credit score) to collect a few extra avios or would the TSB or BA Amex be better value?

    I'd say not.

If you get a referral to the Amex card it is equivalent to £8,000 extra spending on the Lloyds Amex card, if you're after the Mastercard you'd be better getting a Tesco Clubcard Mastercard and converting the clubcard points.

If you did elect to opt for the Lloyds Bank Avios Duo you could also consider the Choice Rewards AmEx/MasterCard.

As a Club Lloyds account holder £12 of the £24 annual fee is refunded to your credit card statement and accrued 'Choice' points can be converted into Avios.

But as Dazza points out there are other options to consider which could be more preferential.

Thanks. I had thought about using Lloyds as I have a history with them and thought it would be easier to get my second ever credit card (as I have one with another provider) from them as well as setting up the DD to pay it off in full at the end of the month.

If the chance arises I'd suggest calling into your local branch and seeing what the cashiers can offer you based on your history/account conduct with them.

I was in there the other week and was told I'm a 'band two' customer.

Do they still offer a free flight upgrade voucher for a certain amount of spend?

That could prove beneficial if you travel alone from time to time.

According to Lloyds' website you can collect flight upgrade vouchers when you charge a minimum (qualifying) spend of £7,000 per year to the account.

Well all I got out of the initial enquiry is that they don't know which reward goes into the rewards account quicker and i'd need an appointment.

The Avios Duo gives you 1.25 'points' per £1 spend AmEx/£5 MasterCard but the Choice Duo is 1 Avios 'point' per 10 Choice ones.

Therefore it sounds the Avios Duo would be better suited to your needs?
