Tesco Crashed Into My Gates

Has anyone dealt with Tesco's after they have crashed into your garden gates? I have spent four months so far trying to get them to repair the gates to an acceptable standard. I would be interested in hearing from anyone who's had a similar experience and what you had to do to get Tesco to act.

In the meantime, you can see my story developing on this facebook page called "Tesco Crashed into my Gates"

Look forward to hearing your stories.

What does your insurance company say?

The surveyor will come along, work out how best to have it restored, how much, and the insurance will it all back from Tesco's.

    Firstly, it's Tesco, not "Tesco's".
Secondly, Tesco did not crash into your gates. Perhaps one of their van drivers or employees did? It is highly unlikely that the corporate entity managed to assume physical form and then deliberately crash into your gates.
Finally, no one is likely to visit your website based on what you just posted.

It's far more likely that it was a vehicle that actually crashed into the gates, unless of course someone ran at the gates whilst on foot.

If you are going to be pedantic, at least try to ensure that your own posts are perfect first.

From the Facebook page it seems you expect to be able to claim thousands over wasted time spent on calls etc.

It also seems you want them to pay out for cars to be inspected after you repeatedly drove them over something too large for them.

I'm not certain either of these things will happen. At least not to the level you're expecting them to.

What were the gates doing in the middle of the road anyway
  • For the hard of reading. BoP interrupts for ease of flowing.

OP owning pad that probably has a intercom connected iron gates, bought their food at Mr T's. On delivery, said driver from Mt T asked to enter property. Somehow the gates did not work, and ...

It is understood that children are thought not to be be involved.

OP, though living at pad that has massive gates, is understood not to have adequate insurance.

    Short Description
Tesco's crashed into my gates and have taken months to repair them. This site tracks the progress, promises and excuses coming from Tesco.
    Long Description
Back in the third quarter of 2015, we invited Tesco to delivery our groceries.

We always instruct delivery drivers to drive their vehicles through our gates in a forward direction. The first reason is that they can't see oncoming traffic; the second is there are no street lights where we live and thirdly; they may crash into our gates.

On this occassion, the delivery driver ignored our instructions, reversed down the driveway and smashed into one of the gates. There's several things here Tesco need to understand:

    1. The driver had a floodlight mounted on the rear of his vehicle, but he failed to turn it on.
    2. The driver had music up so loud in the vehicle, he never heard the crash, continued reversing knocking the gate from its hinge.
    3. The driver, admitted full liability on the spot.

I asked the driver for an accident report form. He provided an out of date version, with incorrect insurance contact details because Tesco had failed to update their documentation upon changin insurance providers.

I spent two days trying to find out who I should contact. Even the Tesco call centre kept giving me incorrect details.

After some research, I found the CEO telephone number and called to complain. What I got was the CEO Complaints Team, who put me on a journey lasting four months so far. In summary this consists of:

    1. Time and time again I hear promises, no action.
    2. Tesco rely on third parties to manage their insurance claims. These third parties let down Tesco.
    3. Tesco offered me £150 compensation, that doesn't even cover one weeks family shopping.

A fix was attempted once, but it was a bodge job. Please look at the gallery to see the pictures.

I will be logging all contact with Tesco and their third parties through this website.

If you have any comments or are experiencing the same issues, please feel free to let the World know.
