Hi all we bought 2 tins of Cuprinol garden shades - bargain at homebase at the moment £22.99 each or 2 for £25 I thought the perfect colour for our fence would be summer damson. However I used a testing pot on the fence and it's a lovely colour but far too purple for all our garden fencing. We want a colour that will enhance plants, make the garden look nice and bigger if possible. We'd also prefer something different to the normal brown fence stains. Has anyone experience of these any of these colours in their garden. I wondered about Urban Slate...what would you recommend?

Difficult tortoiseshell, it's such a personal choice. The Urban Slate looks lighter than the Damson, so that would help open things up more.
I had a new fence last year and ended up with Harvest Gold from Ronseal and have been very happy with the choice - it seems fairly natural but not too boring.0 -
I use both Harvest Gold, and Autumn Brown - the former is a lovely bright colour, with the latter a nice mid-brown.I used to work for Tesco - now retired - speciality Clubcard0

Just as comments above - a personal choice and Iv'e just had a a look at Summer Damson and think its lovely, I can see my rhodies, poppies and heathers going against this background superbly. Off to have a look, although I have just finished painting my fence yesterday:T:( and my shed last week, with the all too common (look like red brick):(
Hope you are happy with your decision whatever it is.Always have 00.00 at the end of your mortgage and one day it will all be 0's :dance:MF[STRIKE] March 2030[/STRIKE] Yes that does say 2030  Mortgage Free 21.12.18 _party_Now a Part Timer from 27.10.190 -
I can't stand anything other than dark oak. Darker colours will weather better too.Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0

Thanks for your replies, I've got a tester of urban slate and will paint another section in that tomorrow when it's not raining and see what it looks like.
The summer damson is a lovely colour, really pretty, just a bit much for the fence...would look great just for a feature or a small shed or something.
The ronseal stains are lovely colours and give good protection but I'm looking for something a little different for a change0 -
What about a neutral colour for the fence such as stone or pale grey and a feature colour for the shed? My sister did hers in a lovely vintage green and it looks fantastic.0

Take a look for dove grey, we have urban slate on the decking and dove grey on the fence . Looks greatHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0

Back to the drawing board...urban slate looks good but doesn't really work with the style of our garden, think maybe dark oak might work, will get another testing pot. We're going to end up with a multicoloured fence at this rate lol :rotfl:0

Well after a few tester pots (😓 we chose forest oak Cuprinol Ducksback and the effect is brilliant we are so pleased with the result the fencing looks like new and the colour of all the plants is really enhanced. Still 3 panels to do so will put a piccie on when finished.0
