Soapboxfury, your post brought a smile to my face as I'm about to go the BR route in the next week or so. At least that's one thing to know what to expect, awful though it is. :)

I found a fun little game as well a few weeks after BR...I constantly received phonecalls from a couple of creditors on a daily basis despite teling them all my BR details..o2 in particular seemed a little painfull...one night they called I let the guy go through all his speech to tell him "oh hang on someone at the door" thing is there wasn't! I put the phone to one side & left it to carry on with my day while the guy from o2 still hung on waiting...best i've had is someone waiting 45mins before they got fed up & hung up!

  • I went BR on the Thursday, was on the Insolvency Register by the Friday morning & had a letter offering me high street credit by the Monday morning. Since then I've had quite a few letters like this, all with self-addressed envelopes. So my bit of fun on a boring wet day is to use the envelope from one company to send the offer details from another company to them. :D If their financial services are such a good deal, who am I not to make sure as many people (including their competitors) know about it? Sometimes I even include some of the junk mail I get - maybe they'd like a pizza while they're reading! :rotfl:

I STILL receive these letters - FOUR months after my discharge.
I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

Feeling left out now, I haven't received anything but I have noticed on my Gazette entry that they can buy now my details if they want? Can the Gazette do this, is this not protected by the data protection act?
Went BR 25th May 2007 at 12.33, OR Interview now done. BSC No 88
  • Unfortunately not. BR is designated public knowledge, to protect the public!!Yeah Right! Pity the emphasis isn't directed in the right direction. Sorry, ranting.
  • So essentially anyone can buy my Br detais for an infinite period if they so decided, detailing everything from who i owed to and ammounts etc and my stated ressons for br:eek:

They don't need to buy them Treadstone,

They're on line for free.
  • Not the amounts and to whom Rich. That data is protected to some extent unless authorised to access the credit files. Trouble is, some never show as a search because peeps dont read what they sign

    Hi Postie,

Thanks for that, I thought somebody might pull me up on that, and I would have changed it if they hadn't.;)

To put the record straight Treadstone, with the exception of the London Gazette, your details are only on line for three months after your discharge date and nowhere are your creditors or how much you owe displayed.:D

    Rich
