Google Play store on PC

Using PC I can install apps to my Android devices from the Play store(when signed in).
I can also view my installed Apps via 'My Apps',

but how do I uninstall an App remotely from the PC??

a Google search says this is possible but I cannot seem to find the 'uninstall' icon in the latest version of Google Play

You can certainly uninstall from the play store app on an Android device but I don't believe it is possible from PC access to the store because, as you say, there is no uninstall icon available. I suspect that the references you found to uninstalling from the play store are referring to the Android app.

Apps such as http://www.androidauthority.com/airdroid-control-android-from-pc-269186/ give you remote access to the device but only if connected to your local network.

It looks like https://www.teamviewer.com/en/products/mobile-device-support.aspx will do the job but you'd need to buy a licence.
