HFC Bank / HSBC Old Closed Account

Hi All
I had a couple of old HFC Bank Accounts, from around 1997 to 2001, I paid ridiculous amounts of interest and charges on these and would now love to investigate it. Problem is the accounts are so old so wondering if anyone had any experience with this bank and getting information from that long ago?
I have the account numbers from my bank statements but would love to get details of the original contract and transaction/statement list so presuming I need to SAR.
Any advice or comments appreciated :-)
Thanks

If you were planning t ask for the charges back, youd best read this first.
You can only complain really if you are in current financial hardship, not historic hardship as the banks won the case on unfair charges in 2009.

And, if as you say this is a closed account then don't expect to receive much sympathy if you try to play the hardship card.0

Thanks for replies guys, I will try the SAR and see how I get on. I don't hold out much hope but for the sake of a few letters, its worth a try.DMP Number 437

You have to state why you think they should refund their charges. As you cant use unfair or excessive as reasons (as that leads to auto-rejection), what reasons are you going to use?
You cant use current financial hardship either as the account was closed 14 years ago.
Its not just a sake of a few letters. Its £10 for the DSAR.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. These were actually loan accounts and not bank accounts as I have stated so not sure if that makes a difference.
dunstonh: thank you for taking the time to reply but I hope when you speak to your clients, you have a softer toneDMP Number 437

No I do not. I have no interest in dealing with clients who cry when being spoken to normally.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
