Another Boiler thread...invented not combi

Hello, just got the first quote back for removal of old system boiler, hot water tank, loft tanks etc. Replace with a 24kw valliant system boiler, power flush radiators, fit 210 litre valliant unvented cylinder, adapt pipework for shower and boiler (needs 22mm from gas supply),fit magna clean system, fit s-plan external controls pack.

£3850

I know unvented systems are a bit more than combi's but no idea how much more, how does this quote seem? He did say that with a cheap boiler and cylinder he could knock 600 quid off but this is our forever home so would prefer a decent make.

We thought that we needed an unvented system to get rid of our noisy shower pumps and thought it was the best system for us. Had another plumber/gas safe engineer round yesterday and he actually bothered to test our water flow and said we would be better off with a decent size combi.

The quote was from British Gas so of course was a ridiculous price, a few more quotes needed!

Out of interest why did the other plumber recommend a combi? the mains pressure in my street is quite weak but I want to go for an unvented system.
