Another Loft boarding - dust

We live in a 4 bedroom detached house and have a reasonable sized loft which we are getting it boarded along with a loft ladder.
We have a lot of books and kids stuffs along with usual seasonal wears and travel suitcases - which we are thinking of putting it up there. All are currently cluttered in Garage.

Is there any way to limit the dust settling on these stuff.

I'm not looking to block ventilation in the loft
Loft is going to be part boarded.

You will need to seal and protect the items. I use the clear plastic and lidded crates, costing under £5 each at wholesalers, B&M etc.

You will never stop the dust because it comes through the ventilation, and the ventilation is constantly blowing on your fibreglass, or Rockwool, roof insulation. This is yet another flaw with modern house design!

I have loads of stuff in my loft which has a lining under the tiles and we don't get any dust , I even keep clothes on a rail up there and they never get dusty.. our house is older though.

A general word of warning here just in case...even thirty years ago before Health And Safety was as stringent as it is today the construction industry was concerned that roof insulation was carcinogenic. Hence the wearing of overalls, eye protection and breathing protection became a requirement for installing the material. The fibres get in the air and lodge in the lungs.

I do not know what research has been done over the years but I would not be hanging clothes in a roof space!

Could I put up a breathable membrane in a tent shape/room so the are inside the membrane is dust free?

    Here's a thought. Dust covers.
Although we never found much of a problem with dust. Unless, of course, there is no under tile membrane.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

Yes of course you can. Adding a continuously running fan to maintain a positive air pressure will help too.

You could also go for a full loft conversion if you wish.

    You decide. :D

I've recently partly boarded my loft. Most of the dust was from disturbing the insulation. If the insulation is not moved the dust is minimal.
