you should contact the LA Social Services dept and ask them to come out and do an assessment under Section 47 of the Community Care Act 1990. This will identify all his needs. They are then under a duty to provide any services identified (aids, adaptations etc which might include a shower). It's usually means tested but I don't know enough about the financial side of it to give more info. Plase don't let them fob you off with telling you there are long waiting times.

you should be able to apply for a disabled facilites grant.
there are strict rules about how often you can apply for this so best to include any and all adaptations you need to make at one time. also some councils have a policy of claiming back the money on sale of the house (if you own your own.)

as suelees says, usually an occupational therapist should assess your husbands needs and make recommendations and help you through the process. you need to ask your local authority for this and waiting lists vary so if you feel it is urgent (eg he has a medical condition that means he has to have this right away) you need to tell them when you ask for the OT referral.
  • Hi thanks for your replys il certainly look into it .
