213,000. I had a recon gearbox put in last year, about 60,000 miles ago, and van was serviced about a month agoJustice for the 96 YNWA

Do you know if the gearbox oil was checked, changed or topped up during the service?
Gearboxes usually start whining for one of two reasons from my experience.
It's low on oil, or it's showing signs of wear. All your base are belong to us.0 -
I would definitely be checking the gearbox oil level as a priority.
If it is fine with no bits in it then perhaps adding one of the many additives might help get a few more miles from the box.
It is likely that the box fitted 60k was just a used one.
Les be honest the gearbox in the more recent transits is not without its issues.
Gearbox oil check or change is rarely done during a service in my experience.0 -
Generally they wont check the gearbox oil at a service unless there are signs of leakage. If its a fast fit type of service then they will probably ignore that unless its something they can tell you needs doing and they can do it.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
