Hello I'm new to this and hoping deperatly that someone can help us.
We went to a car dealership almost 5 years ago to look at getting a new car as our old one was falling to bits. We found one we liked at a price we could afford with insurance and tax included. At this time we were informed by the seller that the term would be 5 years and the we should take the car back every year and they would upgrade the car. Whatever car we had at the end of the 5 year term was ours to keep... so that is what we have done, however when we took the car back the first time they have re-started the finance and added on the depreciation from the first car... payments went up but we were lead to believe it was a better model vehicle. We also at this point had to pay our insurance separately. The second time we took the car back it happened again.. we are now on our fourth car owing 3 times what the car is worth and struggling to meet the repayments. Had I realised what was happening I would have never taken the first car we had back. I really don't know what to do, please help us!

You genuinely thought you could get a brand new car every year without paying any more money? and at the end of 5 years own a 1 year old car with no further payment?
all for the cost of the first car??
What did the paperwork say each time you exchanged?
Not only did you do this once but 3 times? and 4 cars and didn't notice?0 -
First of all they weren't brand new cars and yes we did. The car I have now is worth 6,000 we owe 20,000 do you think if I had realised I would be in this mess?0

Paperwork doesn't say anything about returning the car... we realised the 3rd time since then they have rang and rang telling us we can get a better deal and they can reduce the repayments #gullable0

Hmm, the deal you were offered doesn't seem real and indeed it wasn't , basically it sounds like you were restarting a personal lease plan, what puzzles me more is that you say WE so I'm not sure why the other person(s) with you didn't realise the deal is not as you imagined.0

So you didn't sign anything before you drove off cars numbers , 2 and 3 and 4? detailing what the deal was? and how much you owed and what payments were?0 -
I say we it's my partners car only as we are partners it's jointly our responsibility. I didn't see the paperwork signed as the 1st time I'd had our son just days before and the second our son was poorly. My partner just thought it was the total cost of the car0

Upon the exchange of the first vehicle we also received no v5 document so 6 months later we coulnd nt tax the car. At this point I knew very little about cars and how this works. My partner was the same as his dad had previously dealt with his car situation.0

Well he thought wrong, you'll need to go back through the five years of paperwork to see if there is anything to support your claim.0 -

You need to get your copy of the paperwork and see exactly what you and your partner have agreed to, if anything was misleading on that then their is your place to start, Otherwise im not sure you have a case, and need to look at other debt options0 -
Like what? What am I looking for?0
