Fed up with blank pages- is there a way to fix this?

When looking at a web page quite often I'll right-click a link and open the link on a new tab or page which means I don't view the page opening, it just starts up whilst I carry on with what I am doing, assuming my selected webpage is opening on another page.

For some reason when I then go to view the tab or page I've right-clicked to open, I get a blank page.

No error message, no internet connection failure page, just a blank page with the full web address at the top showing it as loaded but with no content. A refresh doesn't fix this and if I try nothing happens (ie the page wont even refresh).

I'm not sure how to fix this- is there some sort of "if a tree falls in a forest does anyone hear it fall" setting I can switch off so things do load without me having to watch them load? I do the right-click thing without thinking as it used to work fine then for some reason when I got a new ISP (could there be a connection?) things wont load as they used to. Is this a PC issue, a modem issue or an ISP issue and is there anything I can do to fix it.

    clear the cache and re-install or reset your browser to defaults

    Could it be that the links you click on are not URLs but javascript functions?

    These cause particular actions on the page you're viewing, E.G. generating a pop-up, but will just produce a blank page if you try "Open in new tab" with them.

    Next time, try hovering over them before clicking and note the URL they point to, if it's something like "javascript(Void)", it won't work.

    The problem seems to happen even with a cleared cachet- if for example I turn on the computer from start-up it will happen right away.

    I am 100% sure the links are web links and not javascripts; they work if I sit and watch the page load (ie, click to open on a new tab and then click on the tab as it loads but not if I leave the tab to load by itself without me watching (and am on a different tab or page).

    Happens with both IE and Chrome but not always with IE but always with Chrome. Not sure why, not sure what to do to fix it. I'm not sure if it's just my computer or if this happens to everyone.

    Another thing to add;

    If I do have a web page open, I am reading the web page and then decide to go to a different tab showing a different web page, wait for it to load, read the new web page...all fine. Then I decide to go back to the tab I had previously been reading- all still there on a different tab just as I had left it. But when I try to do this- even though I have not touched, clicked or even looked at anything on that tab, the tab will now be...a blank page. Why is this? It was working fine until I stopped looking at it! I hadn't closed it, shut it down or clicked on anything before moving to a new tab, I had simply just stopped looking at it.

    It's really infuriating! I can't seem to have more than one tab open at a time without it becoming a blank page!
  • Download and run CCleaner and see if that fixes it but don't touch the registry cleaner just use the 'cleaner' http://filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/
