Credit Card Charges

Hi there, I'm John, a newbie to the site.

I've just been charged £12 for having insufficient funds in my Lloyds account to cover a Lloyds Credit Card DD payment. What's fired me into action is that they've charged me £12 TWICE (eg £24!) :mad: . I'm told there is a Returned DD Charge, and also a Late Payment Charge, both at £12. But if I pay by DD, the minute my DD is returned, I'm late. Is this right?!?!

Welcome to MSE.
I thought the point of having a direct Debit from an account was that it cannot be returned from the requesting bank for lack of funds and is automatically honoured if this then makes you overdrawn past your limit you recieve a charge for going over your limit from your own bank.
This certainly was the case when I was younger and frequently over my limit.

I think OP will also not be best pleased when he finds out that a £35 return D/D fee will probably also be applied to his bank account in September!

...and if he doesn't budget for it, there may be further charges if the application of this fee causes him to go into an unauthorised overdraft situation.
