Posting cost on business account

Interesting, I'd not really thought of that. I guess if the bigger items are more expensive and high volume. It still leaves cost and packing of the cheaper ones, so that would take a lot of working out to be accurate and successful.ballisticbrian wrote: »I feel certain that the most basic reason for wanting to make a loss is trying to beef up the package volume to get the postage discount. i.e. We'll sell 100,000 items a year with no profit so that the postage on the remaining stock is reduced to 50p or whatever.
I wouldn't mind finding out what these rates and discounted volumes are so I could put some figures into the equation.
I must have an old fashioned ideal of wanting to sell all items that I can earn money on. I'm not beyond a loss leader or incentive buys but not continuously..0 -

I agree, for me my time is important and valuable- the less time I spend on selling the more time I have to go on holidays or out with friends- I am a lazy seller and would not dream of selling anything unless it makes me money. All my items make me enough money to bother listing, storing and wrapping them.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. It is not just ebay where you get items at costs which defy explanation.
A few months ago I needed a part to fix an old drill I had. It was a very common part for a well own make of drill. I looked ebay and the cheapest I could find it there was about £3 or £4 if I remember correctly, but when I did a search on google for the part I noticed that there were parts specialists offering to sell the part. I picked one of these specialists and bought it from them for £0.92 including postage. It arrive about two weeks later in a package with a green customs sticker with Chinese writing on it.
It appears that I bought the item for the said 92p from an American firm who then got it delivered from China!0
