Trainers in the washing machine? Yes or No?

I too wash trainers without any problem,as four of my gradsons trainers always seem to need cleaning:) DGS Bens' Converse go in as well as they get really grubby.Sometimes the laces come up cleanrer than the shoes but hey ho its better than being grubby.Usually I try to do them when the boys have gone back to school as that way they don't notice them being missing for a couple of days

I do mine with some vanish powder added to the wash, makes them look like new, especially the white soles. Once a month.0

Thats useful. I was wondering how many times you could wash them before they eventually did fall apart!0 -
I've washed converse shoes and normal trainers in the machine on a 30 degree quick wash and they've always been fine.0

My DD did the same with her new trainers last year, they were so muddy and I just couldn't see me being able to clean the mesh properly.
I put them in a shallow plastic box of water outside and used a scrubbing brush to get all the yucky mud of the bottom, then I put them in the washing machine with an old towel. Sorry I can't remember which temperature, but probably hand wash, and they came out sparkling like new. Amazing - just remember to make sure the tong is lifted up so that they dry inside.
I wouldn't want to do it too many times, but I was told yesterday that if you use trainers a lot then you should change them every 6 months anyway. That didn't use to be a consideration when DD was younger, as she grew out of them so often, but I guess I ought to think about that now she's older. I also need to change mine - that could be why my feet have been hurting lately :rotfl:OSWL (start 13st) by 30Jun20 6/10
